Do employees at CTS have a good work-life balance? Does this differ across positions and departments?
Poornima Gaur
I can only speak for myself because I work from home, but it seems as if I have a pretty good work-life balance, although to be honest, I probably get invested enough in what I do at work to put in extra hours I might not need to.

I believe in the future many more jobs will be remote as the thought process is changing and as long as you get your work done it doesn’t matter where you are!
They also offer quite a lot of part-time jobs where there is flexible working and you choose your work pattern.
Having said all that, some people do work extremely hard and long hours so it often depends on what job you have and what is expected of you in that role!

Yes, there are additional courses you may do after a PharmD in the United States…though the question doesn’t specify, you are probably referring to programs in general.
Clinical Pharmacist – If you want to be a clinical pharmacist, you will likely need to complete a 1 or 2 year residency, usually at a hospital. These programs will teach you to truly be a pharmacotherapy expert in a specialty, like pediatrics.
Industrial Fellow – A lot of pharmaceutical companies offer what’s called a fellowship. These jobs are 1 to 2 year programs that basically train graduates to work in industry. Areas that pharmacists can work in include: medical affairs, pharmacovigilance, regulatory, marketing, business, clinical research, and drug information. After a 2 year program, pharmacists usually end up with good jobs.
Note that I did not do a fellowship, yet I currently work in the pharmaceutical industry, so it is not necessary to do a fellowship to enter the industry.
You should consider applying for either of these options by your last year of pharmacy school; the majority of residents and fellows are recent graduates. Applying usually occurs around December during what’s called the Midyear Clinical Meeting (Meetings and Conferences). This conference is basically the largest gathering of pharmacists and perhaps, due to its timing and convenience, a lot of programs recruit candidates here.
There are several other options like an MBA, life support, or vaccination certifications, and really, since the question does not specify, you can take whatever course you want. It’s not clear what you are looking for.
In addition, there are required courses for all pharmacists who want to maintain their license:
Continuing education – the requirements vary by state, but in order to maintain your pharmacist license, you have to complete a certain number of credits in different areas, like law. There are several programs that offer these kinds of courses.
Generally speaking, there are many things you can “do”, so it depends on what you personally want.

OCE is a SaaS CRM based on Salesforce and focused strictly on fulfilling pharmaceutical companies’ needs.
As such, it is similar to Veeva (current market leader), but built more recently and with close partnership with Salesforce (so it uses a lot of out of the box features, instead of customized modules).
The main advantage is that it can work with IQVIA OneKey data (Veeva can’t do that for legal reasons, so the datasets have to be reconciled outside of the system). This makes it the best option for pharma companies that use IQVIA data. Which, by the way. is almost all of them.
They did not switch yet because of the slow pace of pharma IT teams, existing deals with Veeva and perceived cost of implementation (while the cost of license is probably similar to the current Veeva, you need to do a gap analysis, align your processes to the new tool, pay for data import and any customizations, then finally take sales team out of the field to train them)
See lessOCE has already been selected and is being implemented by some big players (ie. Roche, AZ), and sooner or later it will dominate the market.
